About Us

INTRODUCTION

Walking away from stigma. Walking into leadership.

She Walks is a Community Interest Company (CIC) based in South London. We create paid leadership pathways for young mothers and deliver prevention and safeguarding education in schools and youth settings. Led by women with lived experience of young motherhood, we challenge stigma, build economic independence and equip young people to make informed choices about relationships, parenthood and their futures.

Our Story

She Walks was created by two women who both became mothers at a young age and went on to build careers in education, youth work and community leadership. They saw first‑hand how stigma, low expectations and patchy support can shape young mothers’ lives—and how, with the right opportunities, young mums can become powerful leaders and changemakers.

She Walks grew out of shared conversations with young mothers, teachers, youth workers and safeguarding professionals. The message was clear: young mums need paid, structured opportunities to progress, and young people need honest, real‑world education about relationships, parenthood and exploitation. Our programmes are our response to that call.

Who We Are

Who We Are

She Walks is a Community Interest Company (CIC) dedicated to young mothers and young people. We create paid leadership pathways for young mums aged 18–25 and partner with schools to deliver prevention and safeguarding education grounded in lived experience and professional practice.

01

A Community Interest Company with Purpose
She Walks is set up as a CIC, which means our work and resources are locked into serving our community. Every programme, partnership and pound is focused on increasing safety, leadership and economic independence for young mothers and young people.

02

Leadership Pathways for Young Mothers
We support young mums to move from feeling overlooked to stepping into paid leadership roles. Through training, mentoring and paid sessional work, participants gain skills, confidence and professional experience that supports long‑term employment.

03

Prevention Education Rooted in Lived Experience
We design and deliver school‑based prevention sessions that support RSHE and PSHE, covering healthy relationships, early parenthood, exploitation and online safety. Workshops are co‑delivered by trained young mothers and safeguarding‑aware facilitators.

04

Credible Partners for Schools & Services

Our work blends lived experience with safeguarding training, youth work practice and reflective supervision. We take a professional, evidence‑informed approach that gives schools, local authorities and partners confidence in the quality and safety of our programmes.

Our Vision & Our Mission

Our Vision & Our Mission

Our Vision

We envision communities where young mothers are financially independent, confident and shaping their own paths—while young people have the knowledge, self‑awareness and support they need to make positive life decisions. We see a future where knowledge builds confidence, confidence builds capability and capability creates lasting change.

Our Mission

Our mission is to build awareness, ambition and economic independence through programmes that equip young mothers and young people to lead confident, financially stable lives.

Our Work

Our Work

We focus on two core strands of work that reinforce each other: paid leadership pathways for young mothers and a school prevention programme that brings real‑life insight into the classroom.
Leadership Pathways for Young Mothers

Our leadership pathways provide young mums aged 18–25 with structured training, mentoring and paid opportunities. Participants build facilitation skills, safeguarding awareness and professional confidence, and they progress into paid sessional roles co‑delivering workshops in schools and community spaces.
