Our Story
She Walks was created by two women who both became mothers at a young age and went on to build careers in education, youth work and community leadership. They saw first‑hand how stigma, low expectations and patchy support can shape young mothers’ lives—and how, with the right opportunities, young mums can become powerful leaders and changemakers.
She Walks grew out of shared conversations with young mothers, teachers, youth workers and safeguarding professionals. The message was clear: young mums need paid, structured opportunities to progress, and young people need honest, real‑world education about relationships, parenthood and exploitation. Our programmes are our response to that call.

Our Vision & Our Mission
Our Vision
We envision communities where young mothers are financially independent, confident and shaping their own paths—while young people have the knowledge, self‑awareness and support they need to make positive life decisions. We see a future where knowledge builds confidence, confidence builds capability and capability creates lasting change.
Our Mission
Our mission is to build awareness, ambition and economic independence through programmes that equip young mothers and young people to lead confident, financially stable lives.

Leadership Pathways for Young Mothers
Our leadership pathways provide young mums aged 18–25 with structured training, mentoring and paid opportunities. Participants build facilitation skills, safeguarding awareness and professional confidence, and they progress into paid sessional roles co‑delivering workshops in schools and community spaces.
Key outcomes (bullets):
- Increased confidence and leadership skills
- Paid, flexible work that fits around caring responsibilities
- Stronger CVs, references and future employment options
- A peer network of young mothers leading change
School Prevention & Safeguarding Programme
We partner with secondary schools, colleges and youth organisations to deliver prevention education that supports RSHE and PSHE requirements. Sessions address the realities of early parenthood, relationships, exploitation and online pressure in a safe, age‑appropriate way.
Our school workshops:
- Are co‑delivered by trained young mothers and professional facilitators
- Support statutory RSHE/PSHE outcomes
- Are trauma‑informed and safeguarding‑led
- Allow students to ask honest questions and challenge stereotypes

Support Directory
Support Directory for Mothers & Families
A curated, searchable directory of support services for mothers.
Alongside our own programmes, She Walks is developing a dedicated directory of trusted services for mothers and families. This online directory will make it easier to find support around mental health, housing, employment, benefits, parenting and more.
Directory features:
- Curated listings with organisation name, description and contact details
- Service categories such as mental health, employment, housing, parenting, local services
- Search and filter options to find relevant help quickly
- Designed so our team can easily add, edit and update listings without technical support
Whether you’re a young mum, practitioner or family member, the directory will offer a simple way to navigate local and national support.

Our Impact & What Comes Next
We are at the beginning of our journey as a Community Interest Company, but our ambitions are big. Over the coming years we aim to:
What you can expect:
- Train and employ increasing numbers of young mothers as sessional facilitators and leaders
- Expand our prevention and safeguarding education across more schools and youth settings
- Grow our directory of support services for mothers and families, making it easier to access help
- Build evidence around what works for young mothers’ economic independence and young people’s safety
By partnering with young mums, schools, funders and community organisations, we’re building a model that can be replicated beyond South London.
